Lizbeth has spent most of her adolescence in rural Arizona, where, as a low-income Hispanic student, she has witnessed and experienced numerous inequities. She observed how her peers lacked civic engagement, essential resources for daily life, and the confidence to voice their opinions. Determined to address these challenges, Lizbeth turned her intellectual curiosity into action, driving systemic change through community-focused initiatives, research endeavors, and extracurricular leadership. Whenever she encounters a problem, she approaches it with a commitment to creating meaningful impact—improving the lives of thousands of students and inspiring change at a systemic level.
Her efforts are far-reaching and transformative. Through Civic Activists, Lizbeth has distributed thousands of civic engagement guides to students across Arizona. With Equity Drivers, she has organized Buckeye’s largest donation drives through her local church. As one of nine national officers for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), she has inspired over 200,000 members by developing programs and leading national conferences. In her role at Hispanos Can, she updates resources daily to support over 10,000 Hispanic students.
Lizbeth’s leadership extends to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, where she interviews Arizona and national leaders on policy issues and solutions, and to AZ Youth Votes, helping hundreds of rural students register to vote for the 2024 presidential election. Beyond her leadership roles, Lizbeth has also engaged in research initiatives focused on voter representation and civic literacy, especially within underserved rural and Latino communities.
Lizbeth is a bold, compassionate advocate for students nationwide. Grounded in her beliefs, values, and culture, she emphasizes humility and empathy as essential qualities for public service—because decisions affecting communities should always be made with understanding and care.
